SHERATON ATLANTA DISPLAYS NEAR $1 MILLION ART COLLECTION
ATLANTA, GA OCTOBER, 2009— Travelers who have not seen the Sheraton Atlanta recently might be surprised to learn that the traditional hotel in downtown Atlanta now houses a collection of more than 1,200 pieces including 62 original paintings, 13 sculptures, and 50 limited edition signed prints valued at close to $1 million.
General Manager Niles Harris said, “The art collection was integrated into the design concept during the $70 million in capital improvements that has been invested in the property. These major enhancements have dramatically transformed the hotel into its current stylish, more contemporary and tasteful look.”
“The art collection advances the hotel's attributes, enhancing the Sheraton Atlanta's distinctiveness and competitive position in conference group business, while providing our guests with a thoughtful amenity to capture a richer experience together with an appreciation of fine art,” he added.
The style of the Sheraton Atlanta collection is contemporary as well as Transitional art (art imbued with meaning beyond what they are in reality). Some of the more established national and international artists whose works are on display include T.L Lange, Emanuel Mattini, Niso Maman, Antonio Dojer, Jeff Surett, Martin Quen, and Anne Wallace just to name a few.
The Sheraton Atlanta art collection frames the meeting space walls, corridors, lobby and many rooms inside the 6 th largest meeting and convention property in Atlanta with 90,000 square feet of meeting space and 765 rooms.
Daniel Senden, Director of Sales & Marketing says, “Meeting planners are expressing a particular appreciation for the collection. They feel the art is a part of the new and vibrant identity of the hotel making it more attractive to corporate groups and convention attendees.”
Ideally located just 15 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the hotel has for decades anchored a vibrant heart of the downtown Atlanta scene, positioned amid the cultural, entertainment, sports and business venues of the capital city of Georgia.
