Sheraton Atlanta Hotel´s New Conference Center Very Popular With Planners & Groups
ATLANTA, GA (December 2005) – The new $10 million Conference Center at The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel is drawing glowing reviews from planners and groups. Opened at the 760-room downtown Atlanta property in December 2004, the Conference Center features 33,000 square feet of function space, bringing the hotel´s meeting and event space to 83,000 square feet. The new facility features a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, 8,000 square feet of pre-function space, and four breakout rooms ranging from 1,134 square feet to 1,638 square feet. Connecting the hotel´s north and south towers, the Conference Center also boasts T-1 high-speed Internet access, and provides street level access for groups that need to transport vehicles or large equipment into the new ballroom.
"Meeting planners and groups just love the new Conference Center," said the hotel´s General Manager Kevin Kobishop. "The flexibility of the space is perfect for large or small events since the new facility can accommodate groups of 10 to 800 banquet- style. The addition of the Conference Center followed $40 million in enhancements at the hotel over the last four years. Recent improvements included the remodeling of the hotel´s 760 guest rooms and suites, and a renovation of its lobby, two restaurants and bar. The hotel also just announced that it is currently undergoing an impressive $1 million enhancement of its original 50,000 square feet of meeting space. That space will feature new carpet, new furniture, enhanced lighting, new wallcoverings, upgraded hardware, and new paint. That remodeling will be completed by January 2006.
