Managing Director Paul Breslin Named Among ‘Most Influential Atlantans’ by Atlanta Business Chronicle

ATLANTA (July 6, 2004) - Paul Breslin, managing director of the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, has been named among the elite group of “Most Influential Atlantans,” as voted upon by the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s editorial staff.
The annual listing, released this year in the June 25 – July 1 issue, gives the nod to community and industry leaders who not only distinguish themselves in their respective career fields, but also who spearhead efforts that impact the city as a whole and whose opinions are most often sought.
There are 107 people on this year’s list, including former U.S. President Jimmy Carter; Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin; Vicki Escarra, executive vice president of Delta Air Lines, Inc.; Arthur Blank, president and CEO of the Atlanta Falcons and co-founder of The Home Depot, Inc.; and Pete Correll, chairman and CEO of Georgia-Pacific Corp.
In addition to his duties at the Sheraton, Breslin recently has taken the post as chairman of the Georgia Hospitality & Travel Association (GHTA), the voice of the hospitality industry – which is the state’s second-largest. There, he leads the rebuilding efforts of the industry after its decline following the events of September 11, 2001.
For the city, Breslin has been a key player in efforts to establish high-end ground transportation between Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and downtown Atlanta. His goals for downtown improvement lie close to home as well, as the Sheraton nears the opening of its $8.5 million conference center addition – a contribution toward the revitalization of downtown’s east side.
Breslin is active as vice chairman of Atlanta Hospitality & Travel and as chairman of lodging for the State of Georgia; he also has served as a board member for the Atlanta Convention & Visitor's Bureau. In February 2004, Breslin was tapped as "General Manager of the Year" by WHERE Atlanta Magazine during its Silver Plume Award ceremony, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of Atlanta’s tourism professionals.
