Sheraton Atlanta Hotel Gives Back to Community for 2006/2007 School Year

ATLANTA, GA (August 13, 2006) – On August 4th the 450 member staff of the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel donated over 25,000 school supply items to the Atlanta based organization, Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless. This year's donations exceeded their goal by over 500%. All the supplies were distributed directly to the children by the hotel's associates during the 2nd Annual Back to School Jamboree which took place at Atlanta Braves Turner Field.

"We are all proud of how our associates came together to support this great cause. Each year we challenge ourselves to do more charitable work in the community and this year our team really stepped up to the plate," says Kristin Pobanz, Director of Human Resources. The Sheraton Atlanta donates to different local charities each year based on a vote from the staff. This year the staff decided to participate with HFTHH in part because some of the individual team members had experienced the positive effect these donations had made on Atlanta’s children in need. Additionally, the hotel participates in a winter charity program to help needy children receive Christmas gifts.

Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless was founded in 1971 by the late civil rights legend Reverend Hosea Williams and his wife Juanita Williams. Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless is a year-round organization providing food, shelter, clothing, job training and human resource referrals to poor and homeless individuals. Since its inception, the organization has served over 1-million meals to the needy. In addition to the annual Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner events, there are also dinner events for the Martin Luther King Day holiday and Easter.
