One Million-Point Grand Prize, Quarterly Points Giveaways to Celebrate Grand Opening of Hotel's Conference Center Addition

One lucky meeting planner will have one million reasons to celebrate his or
her booking at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, as the downtown Atlanta property
will award the winner later this year as many Starwood Preferred Planner
Starpoints™ for booking his or her company’s event there in 2005. Quarterly
winners of 100,000 points also will be announced this year.
Hotel managing director Paul Breslin presented the first quarterly winner
– Mary Alice Moore of Maritz McGettigan in Indianapolis – her points this
month, and subsequent Starpoints™ will be presented in July and October.
The hotel launched the meeting planners incentive program to celebrate the
grand opening of its conference center addition – an $8 million, 33,000-square
-foot facility that features ultra-modern surroundings including powerful
Internet and audiovisual capabilities. The addition officially opened in
late 2004, capping off a yearlong construction effort to present more
than 83,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Meeting planners become eligible for the one million-point drawing –
scheduled for mid-December 2005 – by booking meeting space and accumulating
contest entries. The number of entries a planner receives is based on the
size and frequency of meetings booked at the hotel between now and December
14, 2005, and up to 20 entries are possible.
Sheraton Atlanta Hotel Managing Director Paul Breslin said that the
benefits of the one million Starpoints™ were unbeatable. “The opportunity
to have hundreds of room nights at hotels and resorts worldwide, to fly
free with 30 major airline partners and to experience some of the world’s
most incredible destinations is too good to pass up,” he said.
“We’ve had a successful year so far showcasing the new conference center,
and we’re excited to thank our loyal meeting planners by offering the
million points and the quarterly points giveaways,” he continued.
Breslin refers to the second part of the hotel’s incentive program, in
which 100,000 Starpoints™ will be awarded quarterly to meeting planners
based on the same criteria.
