Sheraton Atlanta Hotel Captures Prestigious “Inner Circle Award”

ATLANTA, GA (December 2005) – The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Atlanta just one block from Peachtree Center, has captured Association Meetings magazine’s prestigious “Inner Circle Award” for the second consecutive year. The 760-room property was the only hotel in Atlanta and one of only two Sheratons worldwide to receive the distinction, as determined by votes by the magazine’s readers.

Among the many reasons cited for the award was the hotel’s recent addition of a $10 million Conference Center that features 33,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes a 15,000-square-foot ballroom. The hotel now houses 83,000 square feet of function space. Connecting the hotel’s north and south towers, the Conference Center boasts T-1 high-speed Internet access, and provides street level access for groups that need to transport large equipment or vehicles into the ballroom.

Not resting on its laurels, the hotel is currently undergoing a $1 million enhancement of its original 50,000 square feet of meeting space. That space will feature new carpet, new furniture, enhanced lighting, new wallcoverings, upgraded hardware, and new paint. That remodeling will be completed by January 2006.

The addition of the Conference Center followed $40 million in enhancements at the hotel over the last four years. Recent improvements included the remodeling of the hotel’s 760 guest rooms and suites, and a renovation of its lobby, two restaurants and bar.
