SHERATON ATLANTA HOTEL NOW OFFERING GUEST-TEK HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS
Hotel-Wide Service to Provide Easier, Faster Connections
ATLANTA (February 18, 2004) - In response to a growing base of business travelers,
the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel now provides Guest-Tek high-speed wireless Internet
access, hotel-wide. Using the service's GlobalSuite⢠plug-and-play software,
guests can connect to the Internet in seconds, without changing laptop settings
or downloading software.
The Sheraton's 760 guest rooms and event space were equipped with the service in
late January, replacing the hotel's dial-up Internet service. More than 70 wireless
access points were cabled and installed to ensure complete wireless coverage
hotel-wide.
Historically, an average of 55 percent of the hotel's guests were using Internet
service. Atlanta's growing numbers of business travelers in recent years and a
positive hospitality industry forecast for 2004 were factors in the Sheraton's
decision to offer the Guest-Tek wireless service.
"Currently, about 80 percent of our clientele are business travelers, signaling
a demand for this type of service," said Paul Breslin, managing director of the
Sheraton Atlanta Hotel. "In addition to our other amenities, this is an additional
property feature that we hope is a deciding factor in where our guests choose to
stay."
Guests may connect to the service with a personal Ethernet card or may check out
a wireless adapter kit from the front desk at no charge. Once online, they can
send and receive e-mail using their regular accounts, access corporate networks
and more - at a speed of 50 to 100 times faster than traditional dial-up
connections. Guest-Tek service at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel is $9.95 per
day.
Guest-Tek's technology reports nearly 100 percent success rate for guests
getting online, the highest rate in the country. With more than seven years'
experience in the hospitality industry, Guest-Tek is a leader in providing
innovative solutions to hotels around the world. For more information, please
