Andre Walker Named D.C.-Market National Account Manager for Sheraton Atlanta Hotel
ATLANTA (April 6, 2004) - The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel announces the appointment
of Andre Walker as national account manager of the Washington, D.C., market,
effective immediately. Walker brings nine years of multiple-market experience
to his position.
Walker will manage all D.C.-area associations and government organizations,
positioning Atlanta and the Sheraton Atlanta brand among his clients. Located
in downtown Atlanta, the 760-room hotel features contemporary American designs
and styles that have been enhanced with a recent award-winning, $30 million
renovation project.
The property will be enhanced again this year upon completion of its $8.5 million
conference center and ballroom addition, which will offer 33,000 additional square
feet of function space and will increase the property's size to 83,000 square feet,
making it the fifth-largest hotel in Atlanta.
"Our staff is busy presenting the 'new' Sheraton Atlanta Hotel to the city and its
visitors, and Andre will be instrumental in achieving that goal," said Paul Breslin,
the hotel's managing director. "We're pleased to have him on our team."
Walker's previous experience includes the Hyatt Baltimore, where he managed local
corporate and association clients; the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau,
where he managed D.C.-area associations as well as corporate and pharmaceutical
markets in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland; and the Hyatt Regency
Dallas.
His work with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts earned him recognition among the Sales Team
of the Year in 2000, as well as consecutive Revenue Production awards.
Walker attended Navarro College in Texas and is currently a member of SGMP,
GWSAE, PMPI and AMPS.
A Dallas native, Walker currently resides in Owings Mill, Md., with his wife
and two children.
