CMMI´S CONFERENCE CENTER EXPANSION DESIGN ENHANCES GUEST EXPERIENCE AT SHERATON ATLANTA HOTEL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 25, 2004
ATLANTA -- With its expertise as a leading provider of architectural and interior design services to the hospitality industry, Culpepper, McAuliffe and Meaders, Inc. (CMMI) has created a sophisticated, contemporary design for the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel´s new 33,000-square foot conference center addition that brings style and attitude to the existing structure.
"The guest entry has been enhanced with a sweeping aluminum paneled wall that directs attention through the tented motor court to the main entry doors," said Jim McAuliffe, principal-in-charge, CMMI. "Views through the wall to the new ballroom and pre-function spaces will generate excitement about the hotel and create a strong connection inside out."

The new conference center connects the hotel´s existing North and South Towers. The 15,000-square foot ballroom, built over an existing parking deck, has a grand staircase that unifies the building, connecting the lobby area vertically to the main ballroom and meeting spaces.
CMMI created an elegant interior for the new conference center, featuring a playful, whimsical color palate that extends and augments the original design of the hotel.
"With this new addition, we believe the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel will continue to serve as a catalyst for revitalizing downtown Atlanta´s east side," said Bill Cox, associate and Sheraton team leader. "The design provides for storefront retail development on the Ellis Street side as the residential component of the neighborhood begins to develop."
CMMI worked with structural engineering firm, Walter P. Moore & Associates, and mechanical engineering firm, W.L.Thompson, on the engineering aspects of the design solution.
"Paul Breslin, general manager of the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, was pivotal in making the project a success through managing the construction impact on the hotel and helping with the design aesthetic," said McAuliffe.
CMMI has recently completed five major hospitality projects in Atlanta that are changing the urban cityscape and helping revitalize the downtown area.
